Job Shortages
By Steve

Clip to ScrapBook
Trust me, there's no shortage in some areas - the district I subbed for this past year had over 120 applicants for 3 middle school social studies positions. Three years ago they had over 200 applicants for a handful of elementary ed jobs. Three years ago another district I applied for about sixty miles from here had over 100 applicants for one high school social studies position. One of the big suburban districts around here won't even *look* at you seriously if you're in either elementary ed or social studies unless you have *at least* two years contract teaching experience with another district (and they don't consider subbing to be "real teaching").
