Teacher shortage is not universal
By j

Clip to ScrapBook
Actually, the teaching profession is not that full of jobs. There are critical shortages in certain areas of the country, but not the entire nation. Furthermore, those shortages are mainly is specialized areas like science,
math, or foreign languages. Just because one particular city/county/state is experiencing a teacher shortage does not make it a universal problem. There are so many areas in the southeast that are begging for teachers, while the northeast has an overflow. It is not uncommon in my area to have close to a 100 applicants for one position. Nonetheless, we have to face reality. Not every teacher
out there can afford to relocate--many already have families to raise, older parents they wish to be near, or husbands that cannot relocate. So when puzzling over why teachers cannot find jobs, I don't think it is fair to attribute their difficulty to a teacher shortage as other factors clearly come into play. To all the job hunters out there--keep hunting and good luck.
