stay positive
By another job hunter

Clip to ScrapBook
I agree with the previous poster. You need to change your attitude first. Don't say I wasted my time and money. You haven't. You have networked your name to other school districts, you have distributed your resume/transcripts,
and you have had plenty of interview practice. Don't say you are stupid, ugly, or worthless. Honestly, would you let a child in your class speak this way about himself? If he did, how would you handle it? I know it is terribly discouraging to search for a job and not have offers, but in reality there are many, many teachers out there experiencing the same frustration. Self-pity will
permeate your attitude and confidence, and I am sorry to say, but it will start to show up in your conduct and attitude at interviews. Are you remaining positive and upbeat in interviews or are you making statements that are self-defeating?You need to look on the bright side: at least you went to college, at least you have a degree, at least you are getting called for interviews, etc. Once you look at the positive, take it a step further. If you have exhausted each and every opportunity you have to find a job in your area then you have to start looking outside your town or district. Start looking into private or parochial schools, aim for different grade levels, put your eyes on a long term or interim position. Aim for part-time, do something proactive and then slowly, but surely, you will start to feel more positive about yourself and sooner or later a job will come along. You are not alone in this, but your attitude has to remain positive. Good luck and keep us posted.
