Definitely prepare for the interview and "knock them dead!" You do not know for a fact that the specific job he has in mind is already filled. Other openings could come along as well. Don't shut the door on this one. Give it your best shot and perhaps there is something waiting for you. If not, do you still have your half time position? Interview anyway, it can't hurt!
