You're not alone By KimW

My friend recently called the student loan people and told them she need a reprieve b/c she couldn't get a job. They said, "Teacher, huh?" She said, "Yeah, how'd you know?" And they said that they have had many aspiring| teachers to call and need reprieves b/c they can't get a job! I've not found a job either. This is my second year at beating the bushes. I even applied to two of the districts that have so called teacher shortages and I haven't even heard from either of them. Something to keep in mind, lots of times there will be several positions to open when school starts. Sometimes there may | | be an overcrowded classroom and the school will have to make a new position or two (Happens a lot). Schools didn't count on so many students and results in overcrowding. Then sometimes a teacher who isn't real thrilled about teacher another year will meet their students and bail out. This is always a possibility. This is whats keeps me from giving up at this point. You need to call or visit ALL the principals in your district a day or two before school starts and tell them that you know overcrowding can occur and that you're interested if it does occur. This will put your name fresh in their minds. Also if you don't get a job, what about an Aide or Sub? What about a private school? Many times we teachers forget about the private schools when we're searching. But nonetheless, if you don't get a positions, know that God simply has a different plan for you for next 9 to 10 months. We never know. Good luck and keep us informed!
