It must have alot to do with area. I'm in the Dallas area and they are desperate for sped teachers. Really they're in need of ANY teachers. A couple of years ago we started school with something like 700 positions still open. Anyone who needs a job and could relocate needs to think about coming here. Even the suburbs around Dallas need teachers. Last year I went on one interview and got the job (I'm general elementary) and this year I have gotten a job in a suburb with one interview. Some of the Dallas schools are rough, but you can do a year just to get experience, then move.
