what gives??

These posts sound sooo familiar. We moved during the school year so I have been job searching since January. My daughters school had a first grade opening and I was very excited thinking this sounds perfect (I've taught first grade for 7 years-out of state which means the district could pay me as a beginning teacher). Well the principal said she doesn't hire parents in the community because of too much talk. A few weeks later when she saw me, she asked if I spoke Spanish. She was willing to "bend the rules" to hire me to teach Spansih (a hard to hire subject) but hired a new teacher for the first grade (and two other positions in the school). I have yet to have one interview anywhere in the Detroit metro area.
