An option you should not turn your back on is subbing, which will help make your name & face family to administrators. Some districts are very picky & will not hire someone unless they have at least subbed in their district. Another option is working as an aide next year. I completed by student teaching in Decemeber (2000) & started as an aide the following week in the district I will work for in the Fall. I finished out the school year & consider it as valuable an experience as student teaching, if not more so. I got to see the "backside" of teaching (paperwork, meetings, dealing w/student cliques, etc.) the stuff you don't learn at the University. Good Luck! and keep a positive outlook...I know it's hard, but hang in there!
