How an interview should be conducted
By Theodore

Clip to ScrapBook
I wish the atmosphere wasn't so cold and professional. I wish the questions were briefer than they are. I wish we were asked about our student teaching experience. I wish we were asked about our goals as a teacher. I wish
they would interview more on phone so only serious candidates would have to travel long distances. I wish the interviews would actually look at your portfolio. I wish the interviewers would spend more time on teaching and less on philosophical questions that are confusing like "explain the concept all students can learn at a high level". I would like to see some smiles on the faces of those
conducting the interview. It don't hurt to smile! Also arrange the office in a circular arrangement and DO NOT have the guinea pig teacher applicant sitting in a desk facing the audience. I think a more laid back friendlier atmosphere is what is needed the most. Cold professional looks of disapproval don't make the applicant feel good and the applicant don't have a chance to showcase his or her talent.
