I can relate. I drove to several interviews which are several hours away. I didn't even get a call or a letter telling me they went in a different direction. How inconsiderate. I was dying in agony waiting and finally called. The person on the other end didn't even ask me my name! Her reply was that they went a different way and human resources was still circulating my app. That really put me off.. I mean, she could have asked me my name!
