It was so nice to read your reply. I will definitely remember the power of the EOEAct. I have begun to make it a point to meet each and every principal I work for when I'm either working in a substitute capacity or when
I work for the Children's Museum as an Outreach Educator in their schools, as this is another job I have taken in my quest to teach. It's fun, and each day is different. Jennifer, great for you in starting in your 40's as well. I agree that we have a lot to offer in our "maturity" (?!) and in the area that I live, they're very concerned with budgeting. An older starting teacher will make
less at retirement than one starting out at 20. In addition, I've had children of my own, know what happens during the "hormonal years", their attention span limitations, etc. We're a great deal. So, keep plugging, I hope I'm employed at 50 (at least) and can also give others encouragement, as you have given me. Thanx!
P.S. I'm curious what part of the country you teach in and whether or not the market is open or not?
