For the first time

For the first time Colorado came to Boston to look for teachers, that is, Denver Public Schools. Forever, I have wanted to teach in Colorado. It is beautiful, lovely mountains, and highly affordable, especially coming from
the east. To get certified, you will need to take the PLACE tests. I am a MS/HS English/History teacher. I took three tests already and still need three more! And, they're not inexpensive.
Denver is fairly diverse; however, most of the surrounding suburban schools are mostly white. I like differences. Culture is a bare minimum. I lived there for six months, and aside from

the outdoor activities, there wasn't a whole lot to do. The worst of the worst easterners are flocking to Colorado and trying to recreate something that they are comfortable with, so there are many wealthy areas. Of course, teacher pay is not in alignment, especially in areas like Ft. Collins, Berkeley, Vail, and Aspen.

Did you watch the 60 Minutes episode on Columbine? It's amazing how futile the police were and how no did anything. From parents to school administrators and teachers to the police, no one did anything. The whole incident could have been prevented altogether and when the people lay inside the school dying, the police refused to go in. Those poor kids inside were begging and pleading for them to enter. They were pointing out clear paths, etc...and yet, nothing. The police saw the two gunmen before they even entered the school. ALL CRAZY

The residents are fairly passive. Coming from the east, this behavior drives me nuts. If something is wrong with they system, I and my students question authority. I do think it's beautiful. I wish I could just let things happen around me without comment, but I can't. I decided not to move there even though I was offered a teaching job.

I was offered an interview over the phone with Aurora and I met face to face with DPS. You shouldn't have a problem getting a job. You should start by getting info on the PLACE.
