Interview Attire By G.M.

Here's my experience and viewpoint regarding what to wear to an interview. I've interviewed about 5 times. I've worn casual dresses (i.e., dresses that I teach/sub in) to every interview. Two of the interviews resulted| in jobs. I wear casual dresses to interviews because that is what I feel most comfortable in. I would be terribly uncomfortable in a suit. But that's me. What to wear boils down to personal preferences (I think). Some say suits other say different. During a workshop, for example, a principal told a group of us that he prefers men to wear casual pants, buttoned-up shirt and tie. | | He prefers to see woman in a dress. If you ask another principal his or her preference, you probably would get a different response. We all know what you shouldn't wear: jeans, cut-offs, tank tops, mini skirts, etc. That's just common sense. By the way, your question is not "silly." It's an excellent question. My adivce to you is wear what you're most comfortable wearing. If that's a suit, then wear a suit. If you wear a casual dress like I do, and you think casual dresses are inappropriate for this occasion, then by all means wear a suit! If you feel good, you'll interview better. Hope this helps. : ) G.M.
