Honestly, the content is more upper elementary or junior high. My fifth graders love them, but they do contain things that are definitely "junior high." If you like the style of the books, but want something with younger content, you might want to try the Stink books or Comic Kid (from Scholastic). Both series are popular with my less mature boys.
