I did this lesson just the other day when my principal was coming to observe. I wrote a five sentence paragraph with each word written separately on an index card. I put magnets on the backs of the index cards and stuck the on the board. I had cards with punctuation marks that I put on the chalk tray. I let the kids take turns reading to the end of a sentence and put the correct punctuaion where it belonged. I also had word cards that had the first words of the sentences capitalized. After identifying the word that needed to be capitalized, I gave them that card to trade for the word that wasn't capitalized. I thought the lesson went well, and the kids seemed to catch on. I had made up a worksheet where there was another paragraph. The kids were to write the punctuation in with their pencils, and then cut out punctuation marks to glue where they belonged.
