What I love about teaching

I just finished my first year of teaching a few weeks ago, and despite the horror stories I heard before hand (you'll go home and cry every night, etc.) I loved it. Some of the best moments were...
when my 8th graders,
who are too cool to like teachers, threw me a baby shower at school;
when they told me I was mean for making them work hard, think, and follow rules before I left for leave;when I came back from leave and they said "Thank goodness you're back, there was no order here" and "we didn't learn anything the whole time you were gone."Then when they complained that I was being mean again a couple

of weeks later (I knew I was still doing a good job)lol;When they accidentally called me mom;
When they asked me every day how Ethan(my baby) was;when they wrote me notes (secretly of course so they'd still be cool) that they loved me and I was the best teacher they'd ever had;when they asked me if I would go teach at the high school next year;when I knew that I'd made a difference in the lives of many students and they knew at least one person cared about them
