What I Love About Teaching
By April

Clip to ScrapBook
I love the way the kids treated me and would talk to me. I love the way they would say "thank you" when they got a gift. I love the way they would ask their parents if they could stay in the evenings and help me after school,
and sometimes I would have six or seven students in my room after school. The other teachers couldn't understand why I allowed them to stay, but I enjoyed their company. I love the way they would joke around with me. I love the way one student did not think it was "uncool" to play basketball with his teacher, and asked me to go down to the gym and shoot baskets with him and a couple
of other students. I love the way the boys would tell me about the girls they liked and the girls tell me about the boys they liked. I love the way they would ask for help, rather it was to make a pinata or ask for advice. I love being told thanks for believing that a student can accomplish something. I love hearing that I'm one of a kind. I love hearing the kids beg me to go to the middle school with them next year. I love hearing that I make learning fun. I love hearing that students, who I never thought would, will go to summer school if I teach. I love being told that I'm different, because I actually care about my students. Teaching is a very special profession. The students can capture your heart, and they never let go. I will always have a special place in my heart for my students. I would do this job, even if I didn't get paid. It's the best job, and it is so rewarding. It is worth the long hours that is put into grading papers, planning projects, and preparing for the next day's lesson. I wouldn't want to do anything else with my life. If I can make a difference in one child's life and tell my students that they can achieve their dreams, then I have fulfilled my purpose. I LOVE TEACHING!!!!!!
