I guess to any kid we are old. My kids are fifth graders who are surprised to hear that my mom is still alive. I say, "Why not?" Your mother is alive, isn't she?" And what about your grandmother?" In the mind of a child, we are old, I am sure, once we hit 30. I am sure that once we hit 40 we are ancient. Maybe they don't realize that even teachers have mothers.
