I read your post with GREAT interest. I, too, resigned midyear; I resigned last year; it was my first teaching position. I have mixed feelings about it. It appears that you have no regrets about resigning.
HOWEVER, it was some of the students that I had that broke me. One student was ODD, another had some kind of adjustment disorder with a side order of an anger managment problem. Oh, another was ADHD off his medications completely. This trio, in addition to a few others, kept the class in chaos a lot of the time. Someone was usually acting up which prevented me from teaching. You name it, I tried it. Didn't work! I discovered months later that they expelled the ODD student from school for eternity. (This was his second expulsion from a school.) Anyway, if you would not mind could you please share a little more info? I am still contemplating trying to obtain a teaching position in the future. I'm VERY hesistant because I know how bad it can get! But I still have the urge to try. I am not sure if I'm fooling myself. Honestly, I just don't know what else I'd do. I am currently subbing this year. What are your plans for the future in terms of a career? Any info you share would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, G.M.
