We have a PAC (Principal's Action Committee). If we have complaints, ideas, etc., we take it to a member of the committee who in turns tells the principal. Sometimes it makes its way to faculty meetings either through the committee or the principal.
I think most principals know that all teachers aren't on time (this happens everywhere), but they choose their battles just like we do. Our principals do unannounced walk-throughs regularly, and I feel that it is up to them to mention blank BB, etc. Personally, I think you should have only mentioned the duties. My analogy would be: a student coming to you to tell you someone didn't do something, and you already know they didn't do it.
