I came across this pdf file that has lots of very useful graphic organizers that lead students through some rigorous thinking. They'd most likely be useful for grades 3-8.

I recognized them from a training I went through about 4 years ago. They are put out by a company called Action Learning Systems, which did a lot of staff development in our district. These graphic organizers actually come from one of their books that have very thorough explanations on how to effectively use them to get students to think critically.

They focus on Reciprocal Teaching components of (1)Questioning (2) Clarifying (3) Summarizing and (4) Predicting. Although some of these pages might require more teacher explanation, there are enough here that are self-explanatory so I thought it was worth posting. Take a look and use the ones you feel will benefit your students.

P.S. Thinking ahead to those who might ask, I looked up the title and found it online. The price is a bit steep. It's not meant to be an activity workbook that you can just pick up and use. There's a lot of in-depth research based information here.
