One lab time was spent with my students diligently typing, editing, and putting the finishing touches on some poems only to discover that no computers would print. So here came Plan B. We tried to save their work, but a safety software prevented saving anything to the desktop or hardrive. So I thought, no problem, we'll save to the server in my folder which is the best way anyway, but we could not log onto the server *^#@$#%%^&*! Later I found out that someone had changed the name of our printer but had not selected the new name on any of the computers -- therefore no printing allowed. Also someone -- who knows who -- had turned off the the main computer that permits server access. HELP! One thing I'm wondering is why you have to create your own lesson when there is a lab person. We have no such creature, so I guess I don't know how it is supposed to work. What is your computer aide paid to do? I don't know what the answer is but time in school is so precious, it should not be wasted with students standing around waiting while I try to "jump start" enough equipment to begin a lesson. Standing around time, just waiting for something to work time, is (in my opinion) just asking for discipline problems. I know this is not either of the Vent boards but . . . . . . .
