How many books are in your library? Oh, I'm not even sure, but probably over 1,000.

Where do you get your books? Goodwill, Scholastic Book Clubs, Barnes and Noble, garage sales

What categories (or sections)
do you have? I use Beth Newingham's genre labels to organize them (traditional literature, science fiction, informational, fantasy, realistic fiction, poetry, biography, historical fiction)

How do you label these sections? I have tubs that house each genre. I printed off Beth N's labels, laminated them, and attached them to the tubs.

Is it leveled? Each book
is labeled with a white sticker that says its AR color and level/point value. In the corner of each book there's a color-coded genre sticker (for example, Biography is green with a "B" on it).

If so, how do you identify the levels? see above ;0)

Do you have a check out system? How does it work? I have library pockets/cards in each book, and a big laminated poster with a library pocket for each child. When my students want to check out a book, they take their book bin (a cereal box decorated with magazine cut-outs) to the classroom library and, when they select a book, they take the library card out of the book and stick it in their corresponding pocket on the laminated poster (they're numbered according to the kids' class number).

What grade do you teach? 3rd grade ESOL
