I have well over 2500 books in my library, not exactly sure of the total...could be much more than that. Where do you get your books? Scholastic Book Orders and Warehouse
How do you label these sections? I have the library spread out along one whole wall of my classroom (23') and they are arranged logically and every basket is labeled. The books that belong in that basket have a sticker on the front that matches its home basket. Is it leveled? Yes my books are leveled. They are leveled pretty generally along the lines of kinder and first, second, third, fourth, and fifth and up. If so, how do you identify the levels? The levels are assigned a color and the books have that color of plastic tape on the bottom of the spine. For instance green is kinder, first. Do you have a check out system? How does it work? My students are not permitted to take my books home (decided after I had too many books "walk" out my first year teaching). So they are given Book Bags at the beginning of the year (gallon size baggies) that they are allowed to have four of my books in at a time. Around the third six weeks they get book bins (magazine files) and are permitted to have more books dependent on how well they took care of books the first two six weeks. Each morning after they have finished their morning work, they are allowed to go and "shop" for books for the day. What grade do you teach? I teach third grade self-contained. (have taught fourth and very low third group before which explains the wide gap in book levels). Hope this helps!!
