Don't panic. you can not like everyone. How on earth have you got through 6 years without this happening before. Not all the kids will like you either. The secret is never to let the child know how you feel. You may have
to steel yourself sometimes, but it does pay off. I even had one child who as an adult told someone that I was his favourite teacher because I was the only one who liked him. My Oscar will be presented in due course. In the meantime, give the child some responsibility in class so that he can get a little independence. I think the underlying cause of your dislike is not really the child himself

but his mother. Maybe if you felt a little sympathy for the child having such an interfering mother it might help you through the year. If you can't do that then just be a good actor. This situation will not be unique I can assure you so don't waste your energy feeling guilty about one child in 6years. Good luck.
