keeping it all in the air

Clip to ScrapBook
I have two opinions on this subject. My professional opinion is that you can be a good teacher and a good mother and neither area of your life needs to suffer unduly if you are careful, have a supportive spouse and are willing
to give up other extracurricular activities.

My personal opinion is that I am glad I did not have to teach full time when my children were young. I had three kids very close together and did not work a full time job again until the youngest was in second grade. It was a difficult decision, as you are finding out. I didn't want to give up the money and the things it could buy.

But on the other hand, this was the only time I would be a mom and I had years to be a teacher. We did not thrive while I stayed at home. We got by. But, looking back, it was the right decision for us. Sorry to say, you'll have to decide this one on your own! No one can tell you whether one way or the other is best for you and your family. (P.S. Every mother I know juggled their schedule one way or another - even the stay-at-homes.)
