tons of text books

I do use the text books, so we have no choice and have to use them. The science and social studies are a bit frustrating because they only give an overview of the topic. Some of my past 4th graders thought Harriet Tubmam and Rosa Parks were in the same time period because of the text books. So I use them as an introduction and then build a unit around it using differentiated instruction. Much more fun for the kids and me.
