The parent was in my room the second day for over an hour. I finially just had to tell her that, while I love having parents involved and in our room, I had to get things done
Tuesday morning she came in and told me, "We will have lots of problems with him today because he doesn't want to be in band (news to me...he told me the day before he loved band!!!) and because they just found out she could be crippled in a few years because she has fibromyalia (sp)." Hmm...okay. I do know a lot about fibro and it can be crippling. (my motherinlaw has it). I looked at the little guy, and yeah he did seem depressed that day. She informed me Wed. he would be taken out of school to go to the dr for depression. He seems just fine when his mother leaves. He looses his scowl, he smiles more, and all I have seen outta him as that he works hard and tries his best! He got very upset today when it came time to leave for the dr yet again. I looked at the records, and he was absent 28 times for various dr appointments, and another 15 for illnesses. WOW! Plus, she says, she doesn't want me to cover much when he is gone. PUH-LEEZE!!! I'll never get anything done! I just dunno about this whole situation. As for his allergies: he does not carry an Epi-Pen. I asked when I first heard of his allergies. His teacher last year told me how she came in and told them all he was allergic to nuts, which I know is VERY serious. The whole lunchroom had to change their menu and on and on. Five months later she came in and told them that he wasn't anymore. OK???!!! Does that happen often? Not that I have ever heard of. I just feel so bad for this little guy. He's at least a half a head shorter then everyone else, his mother makes him wear his hair like a pompadour (the first thing he does when she leaves is shakes his head until his hair falls down into a somewhat normal appearance and when she comes in, she combs it back again like he was 2 instead of 10. She MAKES him get up and give her a kiss in front of the whole class before she leaves after dropping him off in the morning, embarrasing the heck outta him. Poor kid. She even came into my room after school yesterday, wanting to see my library schedule, and started digging through my stuff to find it! OOO!!! That made me SOOOOOO MAD! So...any advice anyone??? Everyone does seem to think she has that Munchousens by proxy thing....the superintendent even told her once that she needs to let up on that kid or he's never going to be able to grow up! Any helpful advice would be most appreiciated! I just want to try to help this little guy. Believe me, I have a lot of documentation already! Ugh. This could make for a very long year!
