Curriculum Mapping
By RTH

Clip to ScrapBook
Your district has changed the meaning of curriculum mapping. Originally it was a way to see what skills and concepts were being taught at different levels within a school or district. It was used to assure that students were receiving the instuction needed to meet the goals of the state/district framework. It was a broad overview of the curriculum and did NOT relate to specifics such as minutes spent teaching a particular skill!

How sad that administrators feel that teaching is like baking a cake. Put in one cup of this and 1/2 cup of that - bake for 30 minutes and you'll have a reader or you'll know how to add. Don't they realize we are working with unique individuals, not flour, eggs and butter!
