I made a sheet that has outlines of the coin-- and the students have to match it to the name or a regular picture of that coin. They can self check by placing the coin over the outline to see if they are right. Also you can make a matching center where you have a picture of the coin and the students have to match it to the value. In third grade we have discovery stations where students are given a handfull of coins, and they record how many different ways they can make a dollar out of those coins. That might be too advanced for your kiddos, I'm not sure. You could also set up a fake store where students have to use their coins to buy things.
