my response
By me

My thought is this: Yes, Jacko is right that their are children, schools, districts, parents, administators, teachers etc... that have deplorable attitudes. There are horrible situations happening in some schools...Children
are coming to us with less and less book knowledge and more and more street smarts. The idea of prior knowledge and experience for some is nil. Less and less is being done to correct these problems for fear of lawsuits or for whatever reason.

But, isn't that the very reason we should be embracing what we do everyday? Teaching brings me great intrinsic rewards. I do not have a large

bank account. I am saving up just to have my child's tooth filled. The insurance offered by our school is horrible. But every day I am proud to be a teacher. The light I see turn on in a single child is worth much more than a gold album, or major league signing bonus or 401K account. I treasure every child, every moment. When a parent called me to tell me her child was so upset that he couldn't come to school on Saturday and Sunday, my heart swelled. Only if I win the lottery will I ever be rich...but I will always be rewarded by simply being called TEACHER!
