You are still coming to this website

Jacko, the more you write, the more I just can't believe your logic. WHY DO YOU KEEP VISITING THIS WEBSITE? You still haven't addressed that question. You are clearly NOT a teacher.

I would also like to point out that
NO ONE has said that some teachers aren't disrespected. I, too, find it disgusting that these things go on. I work in ELEMENTARY school and first graders have done and said some pretty unbelieveable things, and I know that in middle and high school it is even worse. But I guess that those of us who are arguing with your points realize that being a teacher (at least in this day and age)
is NOT just teaching lessons. It is also keeping children safe, and teaching them not only academically, but EMOTIONALLY AND SPIRITUALLY too. I do wish that we didn't have to put up with some of these things, but something you said in your own post rang so true. Teachers are adults, students are children. Why is that "bs?" Just because you don't like accepting reality? And for the record, I have known a few teachers who have gone to the principal and vented (using profanity). While this is not very professional, the principal knows their pain and has helped them through what was bothering them. No job is perfect. We could sit here and pick on ANY job and discuss how it could be made better. I agree that we have a long way to go before teaching is ideal.

What I am disputing with you (and I think others are too) is not your position that teachers are often disrespected, but it is your negative attitude. You write that nothing gets done about the problem, but you yourself DID NOTHING except QUIT your job. What kind of action is that? It certainly does NOTHING to better the situation. If you are looking for a "better" job, then become a lobbyist or fight for an office in Congress where you can actually have a voice. It's not teachers, Jacko, it's the system in this country, that prevents things from happening. And it is not just education that has its problems- it's welfare, adoptions, abortion, and other social issues.

So, I guess while I criticize you of pointing a finger without doing anything about the problem, I also criticize you of pointing a finger in the wrong place. If you think that quitting your job is the answer, then imagine what would happen if all of us followed your lead. The education system would be in FINE shape. And what would we be fighting against exactly? Would the answer be mandates on how people should parent their own children? Think about it- what is the SOURCE of this problem that you think we can solve by striking?

I keep wondering if you are really a person who was a teacher, or if you are just someone who has stumbled upon this website and is trying to agitate the teachers who come here for support. I find it hard to believe that someone who has been an EDUCATOR can lump all teachers in one stereotypical category as a bunch of people without backbones who don't see their own value. I wonder how you treated students who you thought were "beneath" you, as we all seem to be.

Finally, if you are going to continue to write posts on the TEACHER websites, at least address what people are saying in their responses instead of spouting off more and more negative comments about teachers.
