    Clip to ScrapBook
*Do an author study - Dr. Seuss, Tomie dePaola, and Eric Carle all have several books at different levels. Students can read different books, compare books, characters, or tell about their favorite (not sure of your grade level). You can find activities and worksheets online too.

*Instead of a story from the basal use a "story" from social studies.

    *Assign reader's theaters to practice.

*get out books you never get to from the classroom library and have students investigate

*write letters to soldiers or shut-ins

*ask the class what they'd like to learn!

    Have fun! :)
