you are so mistaken!

My minister makes considerably less than I do and he is a valued member of our society. The nurse across the street from me makes about the same amount of money that I do and she is a valued member of society. I make a decent
living, I MOST DEFINITELY am a valued member of society and I certainly don't need someone who is bitter about his own experiences in the educational system to tell me otherwise! Value and self-worth do not equal money. Value equals the satisfaction you get from a job well-done. It is too bad that you can't see that not everyone in the world chooses their profession to become rich!!!
I am rich--not in money, but in family, friends, health, and a career that gives me plenty of SELF-SATISFACTION, VALUE, and SELF-WORTH! I am sorry you have not found the same rewards for yourself. And to those of you who feel this may be too harsh, I apologize, but I defend my choice to teach and I resent another person telling me that I don't value because the public doesn't value me. Public opinion does not make a great teacher. Self-worth, pride, and values do!
