December Celebrations

We do a Christmas program every year and I teach my students carols and about the birth of Jesus. I also teach about Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Los Posadas, and Diwali during our December Celebrations Unit and let my students know that not everyone in the world celebrates Christmas. We discuss where some of the popular holiday traditions originated; I put up a small tree in my room, display Santa figurines, hang up stockings & a pinata, & things like that. I've been doing this for many years and no one has ever said anything negative.
