Striking is seldom the answer By Mary

I don't know what your true purpose is, Jacko, in posting your message, but it certainly does not appear to have anything to do with what teaching and education is all about. In a previous incarnation, I worked in a | job where the employees went out on strike for a couple of weeks because of working conditions. About the only thing that resulted was that those who walked the line lost two weeks of pay. There was very little difference after the strike. When I was doing my student teaching, just as I was to take over full responsibility for the classroom, the district where I was placed went out on | | strike over pay, conditions, healthcare coverage, etc. I was in a VERY vulnerable spot. While I would not, in conscience ever cross a picket line, I also could not walk it, either. If I didn't get in the necessary time to work in the classroom, I would not be able to get my certification to teach. That strike ended after one week and, although some concessions were made, what was lost to the teachers, students and community are still being felt nearly eight years later. If you feel as you do, then you really are making a wise decision in seeking alternative employment. We wish you all the best in your pursuits. However, your disrepectful, patronizing, downright insulting comments need to go with you. In other words, hit the road, Jacko, and please stop posting your nasty invectives here. Our purpose here is to support each other in the very difficult job that we encounter on a daily basis. We don't need the lousy attitude that you are trying to infect the rest of us with. GO AWAY!!!!
