You can not convince these people. The average teacher is so misled by the "lala happy talk" they are fed by the NEA that they really believe they are heros and a decent wage or working conditions are not important. Sometimes I really wonder if maybe half the 'fun' of being a teacher is the ability to whine about your miserable conditions and then elevate yourself with how you are so dedicated that you do manage to 'endure'. It is this attitude that keeps the industry substandard.
