Clip to ScrapBook
Our kids have chorus during reading class (1st hour). It is an elective so not everyone goes but then I get trouble from parents whose students do go. "Well, my child was in chorus and didn't know what to do." I get the
same with band which is usually held during the class period before lunch. It seems there are always children coming and going in the middle of classes for these elective courses. So of course, there are always parents (who signed their kids up for these knowing that they would miss class) complaining about work that is done while their child is gone. I hate it! These things should
be done before or after school so they don't take away from teaching time. If not, then parents need to understand that class doesn't stop just because 5 out of 28 students are gone for band. I still have to do something with the other 23 students and those that are gone have to be responsible for making it up. Unfortunately, in my situation, it is usually the kids who can't afford to miss class time that are gone. Sorry I can't be of much help but thanks for letting me get it off my chest too! I'm glad you brought it up! I know it won't change this year but I feel better! Thanks!!
