I don't get it either. I am a new to teaching elementary school and have finally got my long awaited classroom. I have strived very hard, just like everyone else to get where I am, yet I am being looked down on for my new
idea's that I am so willing to share. I guess I might have really went all out on my room for this, my first year. I decorated it to the hilt. Our school is in shambles and may be closing at the end of this year because we don't have the money to build a new one, so I wanted to make our room, a least, seem cozy. I brought in some carpet I "beg" from a carpet dealer, a rocking chair that

wouldn't fit into the horrible small house we just moved into, and put up lots of poster, created some centers and so on. I also made a website for my class, because web page building is something I love to do. I also make a newsletter because I want my parents to be informed. I have loved every minute of the planning and so on. Today, it was a real slap in the face when another teacher came in and saw me putting the newsletters in the student's mailboxes, and said "Christ...you do this too!?? Who you trying to brown nose???" That really hurt. All I wanted to do was be a good teacher in my eyes and to hear some tired out teacher say those things really bothered me. It's like they are mad I am doing things different. So many of my ideas came from others, and I thought we could all share. Heck...no one wants to even talk to me. I hate being the youngest teacher in a building where everyone is over 40!!! Why is it this way?
