I know what you mean

Clip to ScrapBook
I am going to be a third year teacher, and have too often felt the pain of competitive teachers. You should read the post titled "Elise."

I hate feeling like if I give lessons or ideas, I may never get them in return.
One time, during my first year of teaching, I agreed to plan three lessons to share with a veteran teacher (and she agreed to create three lessons as well). Well, when the time came, I handed over copies of my three lessons, and she had only "gotten to" one. Sometimes I find MYSELF feeling competitive because of situations like this. Why should I share when others have taken advantage
of me? But, I try to be a better person than that, and I do help new teachers. I figure that I am a good teacher, or I wouldn't have the ability to help others, and it should not be a case of who is "better" than the other. I know how you feel though- it really bothers me too!
