Sharon,

Don't give up! You are not giving yourself enough credit. Remember, you are in your senior year of college, and if you are working towards a teaching degree, then when you student teach you will see a world of difference.
You will see the day to day and daily interactions that happen in a classroom. You will have consistency in working with a group of kids. You will have the support of a mentor/cooperating teacher that you don't necessarily get with subbing. Until then, chalk up your experiences (nightmares) to the worst that can possibly happen and consider yourself as having learned and grown
from the experience even if you feel that all you do is try to maintain control. It will come with time. Your own classroom is SO different from subbing (I subbed for three years), so please don't let your subbing experiences change your decision. After you graduate and start your own classroom, you will see what we mean. Hang in there and keep checking in on the boards to find the support you need to survive subbing and your senior year of college.
