I can tell you from experience that NOT every school in the nation is like the ones you've described. You have learned a lot being in these schools...one is that you don't really want a job there. I would myself not
I often think that the classrooms you've been describing are only on "TV" because I have never experienced what you're describing. Isn't that sad because obviously it is a real concern for the teachers who must go to that job every day. This isn't giving you much advice, sorry, but I will be thinking about you often. Once again someone on this board has pointed out to me how lucky I am to have the job I do. Nice kids, lots of parental support, good pay, clean safe building with heat in the winter but still no air conditioning. Geeze I could have it a lot worse. NO wonder so many teachers leave our profession with in the first 3 years of teaching. Good luck and if you really need the money I'd look for a job else where...or sub elementary?
