I hear ya!

It sounds as though we work in the same building!
Last year we didn't have a fire alarm system because it was from the 1930's! So the solution was to have a fireman walk around the building all day (keep in mind there
are 26 classrooms and 3 floors in my building). The only way we received a new system is when the President of the PTA went to the local news station!!
The furniture in my room is so old that the chairs are splintering and my students have gone home with ripped clothing and splinters up their backends! The only air conditioning belongs to the newly built schools (about 4 of them)so we
suffer every beginning and ending of the school year. And they actually think learning is taking place while everyone is melting!!
What gets me is that the state is holding schools accountable for raising test scores! Who is holding administrators and school board members accountable to make sure that the learning environment is acceptable? That there are materials available, that there are seats and desks for the students? It's an absolute joke!
We don't even know when we are returning to school this year. We're in the middle of contract talks and things don't look good! Our superintendent is on a power trip! Oh well!
Good luck with the new year!
