classroom management for 5th
By Tabitha

Clip to ScrapBook
This will be my 3rd year teaching fifth grade. I have a Class Code of Conduct, consequences, and rewards for my class. I don't make rules because preteens find they need to try to break them. I make them very clear and defined.
I have a poster board with pockets and they are numbered. Each student is assigned a number and if they make the wrong choice they place the card for the first consequence in their pocket. I have a chart with their numbers and names that I fill in at the end of the day. I keep this for weekly reports and conference time. I also don't hesitate to pick up the phone as well. It comes
in handy and the problem is solved at that moment. I make the conduct and set the expectations. I also let them know that what I say I will do..I DO! Fifth graders a cool kids and they need a lot of attention and care. They don't know who to be a little kid or a preteen. Just give them lots of encouragement, attention, and love.
