Discipline System
By Tammy

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach 5th grade also. I have used this system for the last 3 years and it has worked well and the kids love it. I use Behavior Bucks. My rules are posted and they are pretty basic. Mostly behaviors that the students
are well aware of. I have a notebook in the back of the room that I use as a discipline log. When a child breaks a rule they go to the log and put a check by their name. They do this every time there is a problem. At the end of the day I look at the log to see who had no checks. Those people get 2 Behavior Bucks. Those students who have 1 or 2 checks get 1 Buck and 3 or more checks
don't get any bucks. They accumulate Bucks until the last day of the month and then I open the Classroom Store. They can purchase special items such as pencils, erasers, art kits, etc. I get a lot of stuff from Oriental Trading Co. There are also consequences for those who get checks. 1 check = warning, 2 checks = 5 minutes recess, 3 checks = 10 minutes recess, 4 checks = no recess and note to parents, 5 checks = detention and conference with parents. It works for me so I hope it helps.
