veteran teacher

Clip to ScrapBook
I agree with a previous post. New teachers are the cheapest to hire, so they get hired over those of us with more experience or an advanced degree. I worked in a district one year that was well known to hire only beginning teachers for this reason. I had been hired on to teach in the middle of the year, but at the end of the year they let me go and replaced me with a beginning teacher with a smaller salary. This happens a lot, I have heard.

I am fortunate in my present job to work with experienced teachers. We only have one teacher who is 22. Everyone else has at least 3 years of experience. I am surrounded by lots of wisdom!
