You make a good point. It's always iteresting to see such diverse perspectives. Your point is one reason I would not discourage students from bringing supplies on the first day. I say -- a bird in the had is worth two in the bush! If they don't come prepared day-one and the teacher supplies them what they need, they may never bring any supplies--ever! JES
