DD,

I am glad someone is looking out for these children. In my opinion if your property is labeled with a sign in a visible area then you would not be liable for any damages.

Yesterday, children across town where
I live were walking with their skateboards down the road not facing traffic. One boy walked in front of a truck and is in the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. The driver will not be charged but the police officer stated the boys should have been walking facing the traffic. My question is what about helmets and pads for knees and elbows???

In the state of VA you

can be charged regardless of age with a mismeandor for riding in the state highway with a vehicle such as a motor bike, four wheeler, etc. Also our local law states a child's bicycle can be taken away by the police if they are not wearing a helmet. Your state or locality may have the same law. I hope the police officer spoke to both the children and their parents. I would not hesitate to call the police again if they ride on your property. Hopefully, the children and parents have learned their lesson.
