    For word work minilessons...I introduce 2 words on Monday and we talk about what we notice about those words, how we can remember to spell them, etc. Then we spell them together and then write them in the air.

    Tuesday-same as Monday with 2 new words.

    Wednesday-spell them out loud again and write them in the air. Pick one word and share with a partner a sentence with that word.

    Thursday-spell them out loud and write on white boards-the students grad a board as they come to the carpet to sit down. As they tell me their choice, they put their whiteboard and marker away.

    Friday-spell them out loud, write on whiteboards, then cover up words and write on whiteboards again.

    That keeps them to about 5-7 minutes!
