spending money
By ER

Clip to ScrapBook
I went to the teacher store yesterday. I thought I would look around to see what's new, and I'd buy a few things. I told myself that I don't NEED anything big. I have plenty of bulletin board border, posters, supplies,
etc. Well, when I went into that store, I couldn't help it. Yes, I have bulletin board borders, but these brand new ones are so appealing. And yes, I have posters about punctuation, but these new ones are so much BETTER! You see how my mentality changed?! There were others in there spending hundreds. I kept my purchases under $50. I think part of the mentality of a new year is starting
with fresh room decorations and notepads. Why else would I actually WANT to spend $1.49 for each magnet man!!!! My friends (non-teaching friends)would laugh at me. I guess that is how teachers accumulate so much JUNK! I told myself that whatever I buy, I have to throw away or give away the old version that is currently stored in my classroom. It's easy to complain about how much teachers spend out-of-pocket, and it is a legitimate complaint, but I really do think that a lot of that spending on these new teacher items is for our happiness, not just the well-being of the students!
